I have been jerking around with this for two days, trying useless things from different web sites. If anything, I would expect that steps that resolve issues with Windows 8 might be applicable to Server 2012, but I haven't personally had to deal with update issues on those It will keep all existing programs & settings & generally tidy up.AND it will install service Pack 1.BUT (careful here !) when the newer install is run it will likely complain Very BIG thanks again.

Windows 7 Service Pack 2 Download 32 Bit Maybe some of them were re enabled or something. Followed the instructions exactly..including stopping windows update manually each time.
How is this with the WU version? The computer has W7 pro on it and was last updated June of 2016, according to the updates.
