This is why I have been tryingto find ways to work around the problem, to get the best experience out of Windows such as it is... I was just renaming four files, and three refreshed properly after typing in their new names, but the fourth did not refresh. The difference between us is that you seem to get some joy from reproducing problems, and I get none. Randy I too, had this problem with XP Home and fought with it for a long long time. What I noticed is that if I pull up my files using the yellow folder icon (on the taskbar) and look at at my files that if I try and rename This process actually deletes the hidden "IconCache.db" file.
