Take a look at your autostart in the msconfig.exe (as suggested by Dave Rook) Update your drivers, applications, windows and everything else. But insted of it going to my desktop it just goes blank for five to ten seconds with only the curser in the center... Control+shift+esc was what I meant. Reduce the list to a bare minimum by disabling most of those files.
