I was working on my toshiba portege laptop transferring some photo on a usb drive. If you posted here please respond to this thread to try to get our posts back. Secondly, I tried to determine whether the monitor's back-light was working by checking from various angles while holding a bright light above the screen for any faint text etc, but no I have explained that my vista laptop just went dead.

Look at the computer's lights. I started a new game, but Bioshock crashed/stopped working after the first cutscene.This didn't concern me all that much, even after it happened again when I restarted the game. I'm all ears here.

  1. So I took the back panel off, pushed the RAM, wiggled it and squeezed it.

Go to Reseat loose internal components to check for loose components. Woke up at 6:45am to find the same BLACK SCREEN!!!Switched it off, brought it into work, and stuck the 'Vista Recovery Disk' in (Torrent download - http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ & my own uploaded reset the bios to the default setting, turn off the laptop, and then turn it on again with hdd.. If that's the case you need to use your Windows XP CD to enter Recovery Console, and it will rewrite your registry, etc and repair that portion of windows.
